Basic description of duties: The Reservist will report directly to CJOC SAR and support the CJOC Search and Rescue (SAR) Team across the following primary responsibility areas - Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) Integration (SAR), Plan Development, and Personnel Recovery (PR) - while also providing backfill support to the Regular Force CJOC SAR Deputy Advisor position when required. Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) Integration (SAR): o Support SAR-related integration of the CCG within CAF/DND structures, contributing to improved coordination, governance, and information sharing for national SAR operations. o Assist in enhancing joint SAR interoperability, readiness, and response through participation in interdepartmental working groups and the development or refinement of integrated procedures. Plan Development (including CONPLAN SOTERIA - MAJAID / MRO): o Support CJOC SAR responsibility for national level SAR planning, including the development, review, and maintenance of CONPLAN SOTERIA for major air disasters and mass rescue operations. o Coordinate planning activities with CJOC staff, J5 Plans, environmental commands, CCG, and other government departments to ensure alignment, readiness, and synchronization of SAR-related plans and activities. Personnel Recovery (PR) Capability Support: o Support CAF Personnel Recovery (PR) policy, planning, and capability development by integrating SAR considerations into CAF wide PR constructs. o Participate in PR coordination and working level activities, assisting in the identification of PR requirements, gaps, and integration opportunities related to SAR capabilities. CJOC SAR Staff Support / Backfill: o When required, provide backfill support to CJOC SAR staff at the operational level, contributing senior SAR expertise to governance, coordination, liaison, and reporting activities in support of national SAR readiness and operations. o The member will conduct additional tasks as directed by CJOC SAR or higher headquarters in support of national SAR readiness, planning, and governance. Remote Work Option: This position may be performed under a hybrid or remote work construct, subject to operational requirements and Command approval. The member must be available to travel on Temporary Duty to CJOC HQ in Ottawa on a periodic basis (normally 1 week per quarter, or as required) to support planning activities, governance forums, and surge operations. Information Systems Requirements: The member must have periodic access to a CSNI workstation and be able to conduct secure voice and video communications (SVTC) from their assigned duty location. Members applying under the remote work construct are responsible for ensuring access to appropriate CSNI and SVTC infrastructure through their home unit or supporting establishment.
