- Basic description of duties: The G4 JCR Sup O is responsible to the G4 of the Canadian Ranger Group (CR Gp). They are responsible for managing local and regional resources in support of the JCR Program. This role will coordinate the provision of transportation, equipment, and sustainment for JCR activities, ensuring timely delivery and accounting of resources. This position is not a duplication of responsibilities held by other CR Gp HQ staff, but rather a complementary role that ensures the JCR program is well supported with required resources.
- Demonstrate compliance with Departmental and Canadian Armed Forces policies and procedures;
- Ensure that a materiel lifecycle management strategy is in place within the materiel data management system in
accordance with policy and directive for JCR materials;
- Ensure that JCR materiel procurement decisions are made in an integrated manner that takes into account the operational requirements, utilization, risks, investments and divestitures;
- Develop and monitor equipment and material life cycle management plans and manage clothing accounts with Logistik Unicorp;
- Produce the JCR equipment procurement priority lists and ensuring that all supply, contracting and statistical reports are completed and submitted as required;
- Implement measures to minimize the risk of loss, damage and unauthorized access to the material under their custody and control;
- Assist in the promulgation of supply and contracting support directives, aid in the creation of new Storage Locations (SLocs), and ensure all SLocs are managed and maintained IAW departmental orders, policies, and procedures;
- Monitor stocktaking cycles according to Cyclical Count Indicator (CCI) schedule, oversee distribution of count sheets and loss report process, and investigate any discrepancies.
- Manage the issuing, retrieving and maintaining of materiel, and conduct verification of weapon and ammunitions inventories held on JCR SLocs;
- Oversee annual and quarterly JCR SLoc verifications;
- Identify surplus JCR equipment and take appropriate action to dispose of or reallocate it;
- Monitor the performance management of all materiel in their custody, ensuring compliance with applicable policies and guidelines;
- Identify and protect all assets that have value including Indigenous and other cultural artifacts;
- Provide local expertise and assistance in property management;
- Coordinate with G4 Transport to ensure movement of JCR personnel and materials are well planned and executed;
- Support JCR planning activities early in the process to ensure national activities are viable from a support perspective;
- Contribute to written staffing requirements that enable effective support to the JCR program and activities; and
- Maintain line of communication with the J4 Cadets and Junior Canadian Ranger Group.

C. The employment of Regular Force annuitants is strictly controlled within the CAF and must be approved by the VCDS. In the absence of a suitably qualified non-annuitant member, Regular Force annuitants will be considered and may be offered the position on an Option 1 basis with employment limitations on the number of days employed annually. Extension to annuitant employment periods require additional approval.
