- RCSU CENTRAL has a Class B Permanent for a Capt/Capt MOS ID/Occupation 00232-13-CIC, or 00360-01-COATS-GS OFF to commence on 01-JUL-2025 until 30-JUN-2028.Only personnel from the following Component/Sub-Component may apply for this position: Cadet Org and Trg Service, Regular Force, Primary Reserve Force, Supplementary Reserve Force.

(1) Glider Instructor Standards Pilot or Tow Standards Instructor Pilot (or be
eligible for immediate upgrade);
(2) Hold a Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) Glider Pilot, Private or
Commercial Pilot or ATPL fixed wing pilot licence, or, a foreign pilot
licence or RCAF pilot qualification that qualifies for granting of a TCCA
Glider Pilot or higher fixed wing pilot licence, with the required aviation
medical, as a minimum;
(3) Experience working at a Cadet Flying Training Centre / or TCCA Flight
Training Unit (FTU) in a senior flight instruction or standards officer role;
and
(4) Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

(4) Experience as a tow pilot;
(5) Experience as a senior supervisory position at a Cadet Flying Site;
(6) Related experience in the aviation or aerospace industry;
(7) Flight Safety Qualification;
(8) Demonstrated problem solving skills, initiative and the ability to remain effective under demanding circumstances; and
(9) Demonstrated ability to work well with others in accomplishing organizational goals.
- Basic description of duties: The Air Operations Standards Officer (Air Ops Stds O) is responsible to the OC Air Ops for ensuring that flying and ground school standards are maintained within the Region.
A. Ensure that all flying operations and training are conducted in accordance with all applicable orders, regulations, directives and SOPs;
B. Ensure that the Region Flying Orders and flying manuals are current and being delivered IAW required standards.
C. Ensure that the flying training courses are standardized;
D. Draft appropriate orders covering flying operations and training;
E. Ensure that an adequate amount of publications for the Regional Gliding Program are available;
F. Recommend actions to correct deficiencies in flying operations;
G. Draft the region's flying reports;
H. Collaborate with and attend Air Cadet Gliding Program (ACGP) Standards Evaluation Team (SET) working groups and meetings for national standardization;
I. Conduct Flying Site Staff Assistance Visit inspections;
J. Act as the regional subject matter expert on Human Performance in Military Aviation (HPMA);
K. Ensure that the following documents are current and being maintained IAW Canadian Aviation Regulations, CAF Orders, Air Cadet Flying Program (ACFP) Orders and SOPs, pilot training records, aircrew information files, student progress books, staff and student log books, aircraft and journey log books and daily flight logs;
L. Ensure the necessary licence, rating, and/or experience prerequisites have been met to hold specific qualification titles;
M. Ensure that all aircrew hold necessary qualifications specified for the positions held;
N. Perform periodic and random flight checks on pilots, students and instructors;
O. Fill a senior position at the CFTC as assigned by the OC Air Ops;
P. Exercise Flight Authorization Officer (FAO) authority when delegated;
Q. Act as A/OC Air Ops if appointed and DOC Air Ops unavailable.

B. The employment of Regular Force annuitants is strictly controlled within the CAF and must be approved by the VCDS. This permanent position is advertised as either an Option 1 or Option 2 Reserve Employment Opportunity; however preference will be given to suitably qualified non-annuitant applicants. In the absence of a suitably qualified COATS or Primary Reserve non-annuitant member, Regular Force annuitants will be considered and may be offered the position on an Option 1 contract basis with employment limitations on the number of days employed annually.
