- Basic description of duties: The AOS Tech position's primary responsibilities include (but may be slightly different dependent on the Wing): Wing Auxiliary Security Force (WASF) and assistance in the areas of aircraft servicing and handling. When working at Search and Rescue (SAR) Squadrons, AOS Techs maintain serviceability of a variety of SAR and medical equipment, set up and tear down parachute drop zones, transport equipment and personnel by vehicle or boat, and assist with diving exercises. AOS Techs perform airfield and base security duties, including site and aircraft security, guard and access control duties.
Accountabilities: The position of AOS Tech is accountable to AOS Tech (Jr Supr) and provide support in the areas of:
a. Airfield and base security;
b. Assistance to aircraft maintenance;
c. Assistance to Search and Rescue (SAR);
d. Transport and general labour;
e. In support of Wing Auxiliary Security Force (WASF), AOS Techs will perform airfield and base security duties, including the following:
i. Vital point security;
ii. Inner/outer security;
iii. Roving patrol duties;
iv. Challenge procedures; and
v. Searches.
f. In support of aircraft maintenance, AOS TECHs will perform the following duties:
i. Perform quality assurance checks; and
ii. Perform aircraft handling tasks which include:
(1) Parking;
(2) Towing;
(3) Marshalling;
(4) Starting;
(5) Refueling; and
(6) Cleaning.
g. In supporting Search and Rescue (SAR), AOS TECHs will perform the following duties:
i. Inspection/maintenance of SAR medical training and operational equipment;
ii. Set up/tear down drop zones;
iii. Transport equipment and personnel by vehicle or boat; and
iv. Assist with diving exercises.
