- Basic description of duties: The J1 Services Officer is responsible to the J1 as the SME on CAF and Cadet Honours and Recognition (H&R), promotion policy, civilian staffing and performance management, adverse police screenings, beyond CRA extensions, and administration relating to the death of a CAF member.
- Conducting Formation CJCR Gp H&R Boards and acting as the Board Secretary;
- Conducting CJCR Gp HQ H&R Boards and acting as the Board Secretary;
- Liaising with award sponsors and stakeholders;
- Organizing H&R presentations and ceremonies;
- Managing award and recognition certificates for signature;
- Managing medal and award stock and distribution;
- Maintaining H&R instructions (policy, CTC direction, etc.);
- Processing administrative requirements relating to the death of a CAF member;
- Processing requests for service beyond Compulsory Retirement Age;
- Processing requests for promotion that require Comd CJCR Gp's authority;
- Reviewing adverse police screening findings and staffing recommendations for approval;
- Liaising with Civilian Human Resources on the staffing of civilian positions within CJCR Gp;
- Coordinating civilian staffing actions with HR Advisor;
- Monitoring compliance reports on civilian performance management and managing L2/L3 review panel;
- Monitoring vacant position reports, providing required returns to higher HQ; and
- Maintaining currency on civilian staffing and performance management processes.

- Remarks: A. This is a permanent Cl B position with a continued engagement for a three year period. The applicant will be a Staff Officer within the Fmn HQ. Initially, they will be in the job of J1 Services, but can expect to be assigned to other tasks and potentially fill another role within the Fmn during their period of service.
B. As per ref C, the member is responsible for contacting their home unit OR to request nomination for the REO. The home unit OR will conduct a staff check to ensure the member does not have any outstanding administrative or disciplinary action pending on their file prior to nomination. Nominations must be made in Monitor Mass prior to the competition closing date. Applicants must submit their supporting documents to the REO OPI no later than 2359hrs in their own time zone on the closing date
C. The employment of Regular Force annuitants is strictly controlled within the CAF and must be approved by the VCDS. This position is advertised as either an Option 1 or Option 2 Reserve Employment Opportunity; however, preference will be given to suitably qualified non-annuitant applicants. In the absence of a suitably qualified non-annuitant member, Regular Force annuitants will be considered and may be offered the position on an Option 1 basis with employment limitations on the number of days employed annually. Extension to annuitant employment periods require additional approval.
