Competency Remarks: Member must conduct an interview with the SERE Flt Officer and or WO, prior to being loaded on a AOS Crse.
Successful completion of Air Ops Survival Land (AOS-L) (AEVN or AGKX) HOWCASING ABILITY AND WILLINGNESS TO LEARN AND PERFORM while under pressure. Member must pass while demonstrating the will and showcase the eager to continue the learning process. Additionally, member must demonstrate the drive and desire to be a successful SERE Instructor.
The AOS-L is CONSIDERED part of Selection Process and is essential and required to ASSESS THE MEMBERS POTENTIAL OF BEING A CFSSAT INSTRUCTOR.
Upon successful completion of Air Ops Survival Land, the member must be prepared, available and able to successfully complete the Air Ops Survival-Survival Evasion Resistance Escape (AOS-SERE, AKVJ) & Air Ops Survival-Arctic Aircrew (AOS-AA, AKSV). Member must pass while demonstrating the will and showcase the eager to continue the learning process. Additionally, member must demonstrate the drive and desire to be a successful SERE Instructor.
Member will also have to successfully complete the Aircrew Sea Survival Course at CFSSAR in Comox BC. Additionally, have or be able to complete the BIT (Basic Instructor Techniques) and AIT (Advanced Instructor Techniques) Courses.

a. Experience in the preparation and delivery of training materials for students;
b. Performing duties for extended periods of time in austere conditions outside of the Winnipeg area;
c. Comfortable operating various vehicles and hold, or able to obtain, a DND 404;
d. Fully employable in a field environment;
- Basic description of duties: The position exists to provide theoretical and practical training on survival subjects by preparing and competently instructing AOS-L,
AOS-SERE and AOS-AA courses.
Responsible for: This is a non-supervisory position in which the incumbent is required to operate in austere conditions in order to instruct on all levels of survival training, including AOS-L, SERE and A
A.
a. Acting as specialist on matters pertaining to SERE Training;
b. Preparation and delivery of training lectures as required;
c. Performing instructor duties such as student assessment and management of student issues;
d. Ensuring completion of details related to the production of survival courses e.g. updating lesson plans, coordinating logistical arrangements;
e. Performing assignments as designated by the Course NCO/WO;
f. Ensuring operations at remote training facilities are IAW CF environmental policies;
g. Provision of MTT training in location for CF personnel IOT support pre-deployment SERE requirements;
h. Compliance with DND safety standards and adherence to established safety procedures.
i. Updating lesson plans as directed by Standards.
