- Basic description of duties: The Distributed Learning Training Officer will be responsible for the management of Distributed Learning (DL) programs for the Cadet Organization Administrative and Training Service National Training Establishment (COATS NTE). This role involves designing and delivering effective distributed learning solutions to ensure that adult leaders are well-prepared to mentor and guide cadets. The incumbent will manage the set-up and close-out of training sessions using the Defence Learning Network (DLN), leveraging features of the SABA platform such as session scheduling, learner enrollment, tracking of participation, content update, and generating completion reports.
- Ensure all course offerings are set up in DLN;
- Assign students and staff to course offerings in DLN;
- Liaise with the DLN Business Management Office (BMO) to ensure all course staff have correct permissions in DLN and maintain a list of authorized e-Learning Facilitators (eLFs);
- Ensure Joining Instructions for DL courses are up to date and accurate;
- Review After-Action Reports (AAR) to track necessary updates to course content;
- Liaise with eLFs to resolve technical issues;
- Close out courses in the DLN and provide trainee results to SO Fin & Adm within five business days;
- Onboard new eLFs to ensure they are familiar with school policies and practices as well as the DLN platform;
- Monitor planned interruptions to the DLN;
- Liaise with COATS NTE IT&E Sp O to update course content as required;
- Lead small teams to develop DL content on an ad hoc basis; and
- Advise on technical issues and capabilities regarding the DLN.

B. Position is located in Ottawa, ON. An alternate work arrangement may be considered in the event the qualified applicant can perform the work from a DND facility such as an RCSU or area office. Remote work from another location will not be considered.

D. The employment of Regular Force annuitants is strictly controlled within the CAF and must be approved by the VCDS. This position is advertised as either an Option 1 or Option 2 Reserve Employment Opportunity; however, preference will be given to suitably qualified non-annuitant applicants. In the absence of a suitably qualified non-annuitant member, Regular Force annuitants will be considered and may be offered the position on an Option 1 basis with employment limitations on the number of days employed annually. Extension to annuitant employment periods require additional approval.

*3) Completion of the following courses: Instructional Techniques (AHCH), Alternate Instructional Techniques (AIMU), Instructional Supervisor (AHCJ), Distributed Learning Instructor (AIMO), Qualification Standard Manager (AKLW), and Training Plan Manager (AKLX).
*Should the successful applicant not hold the qualifications, they must meet the suitability and training prerequisites for the required training and be able to achieve the qualifications within a reasonable time agreed upon by the employing authority.
