Secondary requirements of position, as applic: a. technical/professional skills: 1) must have good computer skills and knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, 2) good knowledge of administrative procedures, 3) knowledge of the Cadet and Junior Canadian Ranger Program is an asset, b. previous experience: 1) experience in the administration of P Res and Rangers components is an asset, 2) experience working with aboriginal communities is an asset, 3) recent and relevant experience with youth organizations, c. behavioral skills: 1) must be resourceful and demonstrate initiative and honesty, d. working conditions: 1) must be prepared to work in severe climatic conditions and in remote and isolated areas of Northern Quebec, 2) may work outside normal working hours, 3) could be deployed at very short notice to the JTF (East) area of responsibility, for an indefinite period.
  4. Basic description of duties: a. the Trans WO is responsible for managing the unit's IT and communications hardware, software and training, including the life cycle. He also acts as Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO), Local Registration Authority (LRA), and 2 CRPG Information Technology Coordinating Officer (IT Coord O); b. ensure the development and follow-up of local transmission and IT projects; c. identify communications and IT issues and analyze innovative and realistic solutions; d. maintain close liaison with Trg Coy and provide technical assistance as required; e. liaise with the organization responsible for providing second-level support, and establish priorities for repairs at this level; f. make suggestions and assist in the preparation of technical summaries and reports to staff and technical authorities on the status of 2 CRPG equipment and projects; g. formulate suggestions and implement training plans to support unit activities; h. advise the CO on transmission equipment, repairs and maintenance; i. provide input into unit operations, management and training plans at various meetings; j. write clear and precise statements of IT requirements; k. write the technical sections of the communications and IT instructional tools produced by the Standards; l. produce/update clear and precise job aids for communication tools; m. produce an up-to-date account of 2 CRPG's communications equipment; n. IT and communications resources are optimized for the conduct of operations and training; o. 2 CRPG personnel have adequate IT equipment relevant to their roles and tasks; p. ensure that all maintenance and modifications are authorized and compliant with applicable national orders and policies (e.g. LCMM ordering where applicable); q. maintenance practices for IT, communications and navigational aid equipment comply with local and national orders and policies; r. ensure that CRPs receive adequate support for communications equipment; s. make occasional visits to identify regional issues.

Statement on the Engagement of CFSA Part I Annuitants: The Management Framework issued at VCDS 5323-1 (DGRC) 6 March 2012, which remains in force at this time, affords that annuitant in receipt of pension benefits under the CFSA Part I who endeavor to undertake a period of Reserve Force service in fulfillment of a requirement anticipated to last longer than one year shall rejoin and recontribute to the CFSA Part I under the terms of "Option 2" at para 2.13 of CMP instr 20/04. This is the guiding principle on which an AFC decision was based and promulgated by the CDS at 5323-1 (D Res) 5 Mar 2012. Notwithstanding this guiding principle, certain circumstances may exist where an application may be made to VCDS requesting an exception which would permit engagement of a CFSA Part I annuitant under the terms of "Option 1" (maximum 330 days in any 365 day period). CFSA Part I annuitants wishing to apply for this position with an expectation of being approved for service under the terms of "Option 1" as detailed in Para 2.13 of CMP instr 20/04 will only be considered: · in cases where the position is currently vacant; · in the absence of currently serving Reserve Force members not in receipt of benefits under CFSA Part I who apply; · in the absence of currently serving Reserve Force members who are CFSA annuitants wishing to apply under the terms of "Option 2" who apply; · where a reasonable effort has been made to fill the position using non-annuitants or annuitants under the terms
