  1. 5 Cdn Div HQ has a Class B Permanent for a Capt/Capt MOS ID/Occupation 00203-01-PAO to commence on 26-AUG-2024 until 25-AUG-2027.Only personnel from the following Component/Sub-Component may apply for this position: Primary Reserve Force, Supplementary Reserve Force, Regular Force.
  2. Essential requirements are as fols:
    1. Rank: Capt/Capt
      IAW ref A, applicants who are one rank lower or one rank higher may apply, however will only be considered in those exceptional circumstances where no other qualified candidate is available. If one rank higher is the only suitable applicant, mbr may be required to relinquish their rank for the period of employment.

  3. Secondary requirements of position, as applic:
    A. Applicants who do not meet the language requirements of the position may be considered. However, priority will be given to those applicants who meet the language requirements;
    B. Experience in a headquarters environment;
    C. Strong organizational, planning, and presentation skills essential;
    D. Strong verbal and written communication skills essential;
    E. Ability to work independently;
    F. Previous employment in Canadian Army PA cell an asset; and
    G. Operational deployment in PA role an asset.
  4. Basic description of duties:
    A. Support response to media queries and information requests;
    B. Integrate into a communications team to support the Division communications function;
    C. Coordinate PA guidance and tasks with higher headquarters and/or subordinate PA as required. Work with members of an integrated communications team to support Division communications strategy;
    D. Maintain situational awareness of relevant news, news trends, ongoing/planned operations and projects;
    E. Contribute to the development and implementation of PA plans;
    F. Effectively write and distribute news releases, organize and conduct news conferences, escort media, monitor and analyze media coverage;
    G. Research, develop, coordinate, prepare, submit and release print, web-based, audio and imagery products that are accurate, clear, concise, thorough, professional and timely;
    H. Be prepared to act as a spokesperson on behalf of Command to local and national audiences. Represent Division PA during operations, exercises, events and activities requiring PA support; I. May attend Division staff-officer planning for exercises, operations and events; representing the PA branch and ensuring that PA areas of risk, resource conflicts, constraints and areas of opportunity are identified and advise the Division Senior Public Affairs Officer (SPAO); and J. Other duties as assigned by the SPAO.
