1. FLIGHT SAFETY [AKYZ]
Competency Remarks: (1) Must be qualified AKYZ - Flight Safety (FS);
(2) Must have at least one operational tour;
(3) Must have experience as WFSO, UFSO or HQ FS position. Flight line maintenance exposure is an asset;
(4) Must have the FS Course;
(5) Must have be trained or undertake training in Human Factors, Safety Management, Accident Investigations, Risk Management and Instructional Techniques;
(6) Must have the ability to adapt to changing situations and modify plans to suite the evolving situation;
(7) Must have the ability to communicate effectively with chain of command and ensure requirements are sought out and addressed;
(8) Must have the ability to manage and prioritize a high volume of information and respond to tasks within required timelines.
(1) Must successfully pass CANSOFCOM Screening;
(2) Must maintain Annual Readiness Verification (ARV) status;
(3) Must attend and successfully pass Special Operations Common Environment Training (SOCET);

(7) Must be able to effectively manage a high workload, meet evolving timelines, problem solve novel issues, and unforeseen daily occurrences;
(8) Demonstrates competent written and verbal communication skills including with senior officers and NCOs;
(9) Be able to work in an all-ranks team, independently and with minimal supervision;
(10) Experience with Monitor Mass and CFTPO module.
- Basic description of duties: (1) Advise CANSOFCOM DAS on all matters relating to FS;
(2) Develop and staff FS policy for CANSOFCOM DAS;
(3) Maintain effective feedback of FS information between the CANSOFCOM subordinate units and DFS;
(4) Review and monitor FS and AWS occurrences;
(5) Inform CANSOFCOM DAS of notable FS occurrences for significant incidents and associated trends;
(6) Update the CANSOFCOM FE/FD SITREP & submit to CANSOFCOM DAS;
(7) Track Preventive Measures to their completion, for all PMs at the Formation level;
(8) Track and monitor the implementation of all assigned CANSOFCOM HQ FS PMs and monitor the response for the CANSOFCOM DAS;
(9) Provide input on FS hazards and implementation;
(10) Provide FS input on RARM processes and implementation;
(11) Provide FS input on Airworthiness audits, initiatives and issues;
(12) Provide guidance and support to assigned formations (Air Force, Army, Navy, CANSOFCOM) on FS issues; and
(13) Provide presentations to other forums as directed.
