Basic description of duties: The MSOp (Duty Watch Operator) is an ATR NCM position performing air ops support duties, responsible for assisting the Duty Watch Officer in the smooth operation of the DAIS or as part of the Command Post Team, and is an integral part of NORAD QRA operations when acting as QRA DOB Liaison (often the sole WOC representative during DOB operations). In addition, they perform start up/shutdown of the Wing Secure Video Conference Room (SVC). Accountabilities: a. The DWOp is accountable to the Wing Operations Center Director (WOCD) through the Duty Watch Officer (DWO) and the Lead Duty Watch Operator (L/DWOp) for the following: 1. Carrying out duties IAW the DWOp TOA as directed; 2. Maintaining a watch on the DAIS as scheduled; 3. Maintain a detailed and accurate DWOp log book; 4. Monitor DWAN, +MSOP and Secret MSC DWOp accounts; 5. Opening/closing and performing start up/shutdown of the SVC room as required, IAW established procedures; 6. Monitor 407 FlyPro schedule as well as A/C serviceability; 7. Ensure upcoming CP-140 ATO information is passed to ESS daily (blank ATO's required); 8. Maintain a presence on the DAIS when DWO 1 or DWO 2 are absent; 9. Operate the projection system in the WOC briefing room, for the Wing Commander's morning brief (Tues/Thurs mornings - 0830); 10. Manage link 11 including initialization, fault-finding and rectification, while maintaining a link log describing significant events; 11. Act as QRA Liaison; 12. Monitor and operate RELCAN Chat; 13. Liaise with Aldergrove, Matsqui and Canada West in regards to link operations, serviceability, antenna arrangements and frequency changes; 14. Enter and amplify link contact information on the GCCS received by operational mission taskings; 15. Management of Trip Packs and register log IAW established procedures; 16. Upon activation of the Command Post, aide in the set-up, including tables and projection equipment. The DWOp will monitor and log all VHF AM radio traffic; 17. Assist the DWO in maintaining the Aircraft Current Status board; 18. Ensure all classified publications and related materials are kept up to date and mustered IAW current orders, directives and established procedures; 19. Complete a security check at the end of their shift; and 20. Perform other duties as directed by the DWO or L/DWOp. b. The QRA Liaison is accountable to the NORAD DOB Liaison/A3 Fighter Plans Officer for all NORAD related duties while at the DAIS or QR
    A. Once the Alert Force Commander (AFC) is in the QRA the Liaison is also accountable to the AFC: 1. Perform the duties of QRA Liaison between 0500-2100 having completed the Occupational Training Plan and Combat Ready Evaluation; 2. Perform shifts at the QRA and COC for first 48 hours until relieved by 4Wg Cold Lake COC personnel during NORAD Real World events; 3. Load crypto and perform radio communication with Aerospace Control Alert aircraft; 4. Act as QRA Liaison between Canadian Air Defence Sector (CADS) and NORAD CF-18 Aerospace Control Alert aircraft. 5. Maintain RELCAN, Extranet, MSC, CSNI & A/EISS accounts.
